Goodbye 'Violet eyed beauty"

Hollywood said goodbye to one of the greatest women who has inspired a lot of people. Elizabeth Taylor. She was born in 1932 in London to American parents and arrived in hollywood in 1939. I watched Cleopatra again (one of my fave movies of all times) on Sunday for more than 200 minutes, very long but it was worth it, and i remember thinking wow she's so pretty!!

I was in class when I heard the sad news of her death (Twitter as usual) and I couldn't help but think of all she had been through and how strong she has been through it all. It reminded me of the episode in sex and the city where Charlotte lost her baby, she was inspired by Elizabeth Taylor's strength and even named her dog 'Elizabeth'.

Brief history of her illnesses:

1944: She took a spill from a horse resulting in back injuries that proved chronic
1961: She had an emergency tracheotomy
1990: Severe respiratory problems
1995: Double hip replacement surgery
1996: An irregular heartbeat
1997: A benign brain tumor
1998: A broken back
1999: A second broken back
2000: Pneumonia
2002: Skin cancer
2003: Broken foot
2009: Heart surgery

And a few other health troubles. My heart goes out to her friends and family.

Green is not my favorite colour but i'm wearing it with pride right now. One name: Blake Lively!!! Not only is the gossip girl star the face for Chanel's campaign for their new mademoiselle handbag, she has a Louboutin named after her and even had the man himself (Christian Louboutin) show her the shop's delight in Paris (special treatment or what?)!!!

Yup you guessed right, the Harry Potter star has been signed as the newest ambassador for the brand Lancôme. Lancôme International president Youcef Nabi said "we are delighted by this new collaboration with Emma, who brings a fresh spirit to Lancôme". Apparently Mario Testino (fabulous fashion photographer) will shoot Emma's new ad campaign.

Emma, who has taken a break from her studies at Brown University to concentrate on her career, has modelled for Burberry and People Tree will also have a new green fashion line with Alberta Ferretti.

Designer crush: Elie Saab

Elie Saab was born in Beirut on 4th July 1964. His interest in dress making started at the age of 9. His talent spread rapidly through the neighborhood, allowing him to create a small network of loyal clients.

In 1982, at the age of 18, he opened his couture atelier in Beirut. Elie Saab's style is a unique fusion of western and eastern cultures., renewing itself with each and every collection. 

Whether on the Cannes Film Festival steps or hollywood red carpets, international stars and actresses regularly turn to Elie Saab's dresses. Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sarah Jessica Parker, Marion Cotillard, Hilary Swank, Penelope Cruz, Charlize Theron, Beyonce, Maggie Cheung, Nelly Futardo, Lea Michele, Diane Kruger.... A forever growing list of names.

It's easy to see why celebs and non celebs want his dresses.... I definitely do!!!

Fashion month

First, let me apologise for being MIA (missing in action). I've been busy with presentations, coursework and juggling with my buying and merchandising job. Fashion month is officially over and I miss it already... The runway, the clothes, the shoes, the models, EVERYTHING!!!.
From New York, I was impressed with the Rodarte show (the sisters evoked early American settlers) from high wasted pants to colonial pony skin aprons and cinched waists over A-line skirts. The Marc Jacobs show was a reflection of the designers mood (playful in my opinion) with polyester shirts, shiny rubbery pants, chunky wedged brogues and saucer hats with chin straps. Michael Kors celebrated its 30th anniversary (mainline) in sporty decadence. A-listers like Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Anjelica Huston sat up front. Sleek body suits, gorgeous masculine suiting and pant-suits came in an array of tones.
In London, Jonathan Saunders showed a beautiful collection that combined his colour skills with a new demure romance. His show gave minimalism that fabulosity that we have come to love this season. The combination of colours, graphic weave prints, chiffon dresses, baroque prints and fabulous coats made me love the designer more than I do already. At Burberry, Christopher Bailey worked with new shapes and colours. I loved the tangerine coloured coat worn by one of the models *hint for my birthday gift*,everything was contemporary and directional. Bernard Chandran's show was pretty with barbie pinks, reds and greens

The Belle Sauvage show was edgy and a hint of futuristic in some of the designer duo designs. It had that hippy edge that they are known for, bold colours, striking prints, sexy silhouettes and comfortable fabrics. The show really reflected their passion for art and brought that art to life.

To end the shows in London, there was a vodafone London fashion weekend sponsored by Elizabeth Arden, Elle, Toni&Guy, Chambord, LavAzza, TkMaxx, Superdrug, Kiss, Diet coke, Juicy couture, The Mayfair hotel, Cocosa and vodafone.

There were loads of designer deals, champagne, and candy.

The catwalk show was even better. Designers like Bora Aksu and Mark Fast showed some interesting pieces.

After the shows, it was goody bag time and shopping (what I do best).... :D

After shopping we decided to go to convent garden to have dinner and move on to Merah club in wells street.

Perfect way to end our fashion week in London!!!

In Milan, Gucci was in the mood for the seventies, Christopher Kane created another instant waiting list for Versus and Dolce & Gabbana had a playful theme too for both boys and girls!!!

I wish I could have been at the Paris show. Chanel, Chloe, Alexander Mcqueen, Stella McCartney all gave amazing shows, even Christian Dior (as John Galliano was fired) managed to drop a show that will remain in the history books of fashion!!!
